Cool-Jams Moisture Wicking Fabric vs Cotton and Polyester
Have you ever wondered what the difference is between Cool-jams proprietary moisture-wicking fabric and traditional cotton or polyester? You’re searching for a solution for your night sweats, hot flashes and temperature regulation issues in the night, but these types of innovative fabrics almost seem too good to be true. Well, we can assure you that not only are they the real deal, they’re also significantly more effective than cotton or polyester when it comes to managing your nighttime temperature issues. Here’s why.
Cool-jams moisture-wicking fabrics are actually made of a scientifically formulated Poly-Microfiber that has been engineered to wick away moisture and control bacteria. While it may feel just as soft and lightweight as traditional cotton or polyester sleepwear, it is not made of the same materials at all.
This groundbreaking technology involves a blend of components that was originally developed for the Canadian armed forces. The military required a lightweight, cotton-like fabric that offered more wicking ability and quick-drying properties, and it was then that our technology was developed. This fabric not only wicks away moisture and dries quickly, it also lasts six times longer than cotton fabrics, helps to control the production of bacteria from sweat and even regulates temperature through its extreme breathability.
We use something called Microfiber Transference System, or MTS, that involves taking very fine fibers and turning them into longer strands called filaments finer than human hair. When they are knitted together in the fabric, it increases the speed of moisture movement through the material, wicks away sweat and dries the fabric incredibly quickly.
When cotton is manufactured, its threads are woven lengthwise and crosswise in a way that creates a crosshatched pattern. While the natural materials and extensive processing behind cotton fabrics leaves them feeling very soft and comfortable, it also creates an extremely absorbent fabric. This is a negative aspect when it comes to sheets and bedding, because once the fabric absorbs the sweat from the skin, it doesn’t have anywhere to go. This often results in wet, cold bed sheets for those who suffer from night sweats. Because polyester is actually a water-repellent fabric, it offers the opposite problem; no sweat absorption at all, which means that cold, wet feeling is on your skin rather than your sheets.
